The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is the parent body for all chartered departmental and non-departmental graduate student groups at Binghamton University. The mission of the GSO is to promote the educational, political, and socio-cultural development of Binghamton University graduate students, and to ensure adequate representation and participation in decision-making processes at various institutional levels -- university, schools, departments and other bodies. To achieve its goal of student empowerment, the GSO: informs graduate students of current administrative issue and policies; encourages students to serve as graduate representatives in administrative committees, particularly at the university-wide, departmental and GSO levels; facilitates communication and resolution of situations disadvantageous to graduate students; and fosters a general network of outreach and support among its members.
